Trend Spotlight: White Sneakers

Comfort is finally cool

Sneakers have been making a come back in the last few seasons along with the athleisure movement. For those of us lugging around an extra 20, 30 or 40 lbs. specifically in our uterus region, the trend couldn’t have come at a better time. Here’s how to wear it- maternity style.

Wear to work. Pair that cute and comfy casual work pregnancy dress with an arm full of bangles and a killer ear crawler. Go bare-legged and no socks (or a small sock that fits below the sneaker). The jewelry dresses up the shoe to create a balanced look. Try it first on casual Fridays (if they still exist in your office).

Wear to brunch. Grab your favorite jogger maternity pant and top with a slouchy bow blouse or an oversized sweater (personality or mood dependent). Tuck a clutch under your arm, pop on those pearly white sneaks and off you go to drink virgin mimosas.

Wear sightseeing on your babymoon. Location specific, obviously, but pack your sneakers. They’ll be your best accessory as you’re either walking around San Diego or sipping a cappuccino in Montréal. Remember, you can loosen them as the day goes on and your ankles grow.

While we love a good pair of designer ones (Balenciaga to be exact), there really isn’t a need to spend a lot. We love Converse’s whites just the same. Just make sure they’re clean; no scuffs, no grime. That’s the difference between trendy sneakers and outdated mom shoes from the 90s. No one wants to look like they’re running to Home Depot on a Wednesday morning.
